How do I book a mini session?

Mini session times will be released on Thursday, September 11 at 8 p.m. They are first come, first serve! When you have your time, you have 5 days to mail your full session retainer ($150) to Mad Photo and Design. If I do not receive it in that time, your time will be opened back up to the public and you will lose it. Your check will not be deposited until after the sessions in case of a cancellation due to weather.

Where are the mini sessions?

The location is not set in stone yet, but last year they were held at Kiwanis Park in Mitchell, SD. This is probably where they will be held again.

What happens if it rains?

If it rains or we have bad weather, I will make the call to cancel the mini sessions. We will likely still have the sessions if it is cold outside, but if it’s terribly windy, rainy, or snowing, it is likely we will cancel. I will contact you via the phone number you provide to inform you of the cancellation.

The nice thing about our probable location is that we will probably be protected from any weather as long as it isn’t too severe, so keep that in mind.

If we have to cancel the sessions, I will do my best to reschedule them. However, due to my limited availability, if we cannot cancel you will receive a full refund and we will not have a session (this is noted in the contract you signed). I will not be depositing any checks until AFTER the sessions for this reason.

How long is my mini session?

Your mini session is 30 minutes long. Because sessions are scheduled back to back, it is extremely important you arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled time. If you are late to your session, it will be cut short so as to not cut into the next family’s session.

Can we have a wardrobe change during the mini session?

Because the mini sessions are only 30 minutes long, we want to be shooting the entire time. Therefore, only one outfit will be allowed for the mini sessions. Please come dressed in that outfit and ready to have some fun!

Can we bring pets to the mini session?

Because the mini sessions are only 30 minutes long, pets will not be allowed during the mini sessions. I know furry family members are super important, but for mini sessions we really want to focus on human family members only to make sure we get as many photos as possible without distractions. Thanks for understanding!

How many different settings will we take photos in?

Kiwanis Park has TONS of different options in a small space. We will move around for variety in photos as much as we can. I want to offer you as many options as possible! We may be limited due to time, but I will do my best to provide you with a couple different settings.

Can I request a specific photo?

If you have a specific photo in mind, please contact me ASAP so we can talk about it. I will certainly try to get any specific photos, however as with all my photography sessions, no shot is guaranteed because there are too many factors to consider.

How many photos do I get from my mini session?

You will receive 5 photos from your mini session.

How long until I receive the photos from my mini session?

Photos will be delivered via a digital download from Dropbox.com 2-4 weeks after your family mini session. You will be notified by email when your photos are ready. I do everything in my power to finish photos as soon as possible, however fall sessions do tend to have longer wait times due to being a high-demand season for photos. Regardless, you will have them in plenty of time to design and print Christmas cards!

How do I print my photos?

If you would like to have photos printed by one of my professional vendors, or if you have any products in mind that you’d like to create with your photos (canvases, albums, iPhone cases, etc.), I will be more than happy to discuss my printing fees with you. You are also free to print your photos on your own through either mpix.com or Harold’s Photo. My recommendation is mpix.com because it is super easy, affordable, and high quality.

I cannot stress enough how much I recommend printing your photos, whether through me or on your own. Don’t spend money on a family session just to have them sit on your computer!

Can I share my photos on Facebook?

I would love for you to share your photos on Facebook! I simply ask for credit when you do. With your digital download of photos, I also include a Read Me file that explains how to give proper credit on Facebook by linking to my photography page, Mad Photo and Design.

I will be posting a few previews on my Facebook page in the days following the mini sessions. You are free to use these images as profile or cover photos, and you can absolutely share them with family and friends by clicking “Share.” However, DO NOT crop the photos or crop my logo out of the image. Also, DO NOT print those images directly from Facebook. They are lower resolution photos used for Facebook only and would look terrible if printed.
